QUICK ANSWER

How Do I Start Selling a Commercial Truck in Miami?

Begin with the truck’s specifications, its current condition, proof of ownership, and the address where it is parked. If it is disabled, inside a secure terminal, or at a shop with unpaid charges, disclose that at the start. EasyTruckBuyer may request more information or an inspection before deciding whether an offer is appropriate.

You can also compare a private listing, a dealer, or another direct buyer before agreeing to sell. No purchase, payment deadline or collection date is guaranteed.

Trucks and Work Vehicles Used in Miami Freight

The Miami-Dade Transportation Planning Organization identifies PortMiami, the Miami River, and Miami International Airport as regional freight assets. Port and riverfront freight activity is directly relevant to the City of Miami, while the airport and many distribution yards are elsewhere in Miami-Dade County. These examples describe the market, not EasyTruckBuyer’s purchase history.

Day Cabs and Highway Tractors

Port-related drayage and other freight activity can involve road tractors. Describe axle and cab configuration, mileage, emissions or drivetrain issues, and whether the sale includes only the tractor. A container or leased chassis is not automatically the seller’s property.

Box and Refrigerated Trucks

Delivery and temperature-controlled vehicles need both chassis and cargo-body details. Identify a liftgate, damaged box, refrigeration unit, cooling issues, and operating hours when relevant. The engine running does not prove the attached equipment works.

Dump, Utility and Service Trucks

Construction and service trucks can have hydraulic systems, dump bodies, compartments, cranes or other mounted equipment. Disclose defects and identify equipment owned separately, leased or excluded from the proposed sale.

Older and Non-Running Trucks

You may submit a high-mileage, collision-damaged, water-exposed or non-running truck. Explain whether it starts, rolls, steers and has brakes that can be safely released. Condition affects evaluation and possible collection.

MIAMI-AREA STORAGE SITUATIONS

Where a Miami Truck Is Parked Changes What Sellers Need to Prepare

The same disabled truck may be relatively accessible in an open business yard but difficult to remove from a secured freight compound. Before discussing collection, find out who controls the site and whether access can be granted.

Warehouse, Business Yard or Repair Facility

Provide the gate contact, permitted hours, truck’s position on the property, and room for a recovery vehicle to turn. At a repair shop, clarify who may release the truck and whether any repair or storage charges remain unresolved.

Miami River Industrial Property

The Miami River corridor supports industrial and cargo activity. On a working property, loading zones, narrow access points, and other equipment may affect when or how a truck can be reached. Ask the operator about safe entry and where the truck can be staged without disrupting business.

Tell Us These Access Details

Exact location and the person who controls access

Gate, security or operating-hour restrictions

Whether keys are available

Does the truck start, roll and steer?

Can its brakes be released safely?

Are tires present and suitable for loading?

Is another vehicle or trailer blocking it?

Any unpaid storage, repair or release charges

Do not attempt unsafe repairs or move a disabled truck onto a public road solely to make it available for sale.

PORTMIAMI ACCESS

Selling a Truck Stored Inside PortMiami

PortMiami uses controlled access areas. A truck inside a terminal or other secure facility is different from a vehicle parked in an open lot. Before collection is discussed, identify the precise terminal, the party authorized to release the truck, and any access requirements imposed on a recovery operator.

PortMiami maintains credential requirements and separate towing and vehicle-delivery business permit information. Those are facility and operator rules, not a universal requirement that every truck seller obtain a towing-business permit to transfer ownership.

Some situations may require an authorized operator to arrange release to a location where lawful collection is feasible. EasyTruckBuyer does not guarantee access to PortMiami terminals.

Port of Miami Tunnel Restrictions

The tunnel links PortMiami with the MacArthur Causeway and I-395. PortMiami publishes a maximum height of 15 feet, maximum width of 8 feet 6 inches, and a prohibition on placarded hazardous materials.

If the route involves the tunnel, a qualified transport provider must check the dimensions and status of the entire vehicle or recovery combination. The tunnel is not the mandatory route for every collection.

CITY OF MIAMI PARKING RULES

Do Not Use the Street as a Truck Sales Lot

City of Miami Code §35-10 restricts parking a vehicle on a street or public right-of-way principally to display it for sale, and also addresses prolonged vehicle storage. It separately restricts commercial-vehicle parking on public streets and rights-of-way within the city’s zoned residential districts.

That does not mean all private industrial lots are prohibited. Permission to use a property, zoning, posted restrictions and safe recovery access must be checked for the actual address. Miami-Dade County, Doral, Medley and other separate municipalities can have different rules. A Miami mailing address is not proof the truck is inside Miami city limits.

Review the City of Miami Code of Ordinances, Chapter 35, §35-10, and the city’s code-compliance guidance before relocating a vehicle for sale.

Preparing a Miami Business Truck or Fleet for Sale

For a company-owned unit, first confirm which legal entity holds the title and who is authorized to sign. A company’s equipment records may include leased bodies or accessories that are not included in a truck sale.

For multiple trucks, make one record per VIN with its specifications, titleholder, lien, major defects and exact location. Identify units parked at different facilities. Do not assume a Miami business address means all fleet vehicles are stored in the City of Miami.

Carrier credentials and physical vehicle ownership are separate. If the business uses apportioned registration or fuel-tax accounts, check its own IRP or IFTA obligations; a sale does not automatically close those accounts.

A Useful Unit-by-Unit Record

VIN, year, make, model and configuration

Mileage, engine hours or equipment hours when relevant

Running status and known damage

Titleholder, lienholder and signing authority

Equipment included or excluded

Current storage address and access contact

Submitting several trucks does not guarantee that any or all units will be purchased.

How the Truck-Buying Process Works

After you submit the truck information, we review it to determine whether an offer may be appropriate. Its condition, storage location and ownership documents can affect what happens next. No response, payment or collection deadline is promised.

01

Submit Information

Send the vehicle specifications, condition, title situation and current location. Include known restrictions on the property.

02

EasyTruckBuyer reviews the details and may request records, photographs, follow-up answers or an inspection.

03

An offer may be made if the truck meets purchasing criteria. You can review the proposal before choosing whether to accept.

04

Agreement and Paperwork

For an accepted transaction, the parties address ownership authority, applicable title documents, liens and agreed payment arrangements.

Vehicle Collection

Free towing is included with accepted purchases. Safe access, equipment suitability and route limitations still must be resolved.

FLORIDA TRANSFER BASICS

Florida Title, Lien and Seller Notice Considerations

Miami has no separate city motor-vehicle title transfer. FLHSMV seller guidance and Florida Statutes §319.22 govern key ownership-transfer issues.

Match the Title to the Actual Seller

Identify the titled owner, the party authorized to sign for a business, any co-owner, and whether the title is paper or electronic. Do not sign an incomplete title or leave the buyer’s identity blank. Florida has different transaction procedures when a licensed dealer is a party.

Electronic Titles, Lost Documents and Liens

FLHSMV explains how electronic titles and lien releases are handled. A lien generally must be satisfied before an ordinary private-party sale; an eligible dealership trade-in can follow a different process. If a paper title is missing, ask FLHSMV about a duplicate, including Form HSMV 82101. Disclose any lien before discussing a completed transfer.

Seller Notice and Plates

Under §319.22(2)(b), a seller who has sold and delivered a motor vehicle generally must notify FLHSMV within 30 days, except for qualifying transfers to or by licensed motor vehicle dealers and specified insurer transactions. Form HSMV 82050 is Florida’s Notice of Sale and/or Bill of Sale. Do not assume a buyer qualifies for the dealer exception without checking its legal status. FLHSMV’s general guidance says Florida plates stay with the seller, not the sold vehicle; special commercial or apportioned plate arrangements should be checked separately.

Before Transferring the Truck

Identify the titled legal owner

Check paper or electronic title status

Disclose loans and recorded liens

Confirm authorized company signers

Keep transfer and sale records

Check the notice and plate steps for the actual transaction

Federal odometer rules generally exempt vehicles with a GVWR greater than 16,000 pounds; lighter vehicles and model-year cases require separate review. See 49 CFR §580.17.

For more detailed transfer instructions, use the official Florida title and seller resources linked in this section.

Compare Truck-Selling Options in the Miami Area

Your best option depends on the truck, its storage situation, and how much sale management you want to handle. No route guarantees a buyer or a particular result.

Private Listing

You control the advertised price and buyer conversations, but also handle screening, viewings, documentation, payment security and collection logistics.

Commercial Truck Dealer

A dealer may be relevant if you are buying a replacement or your truck fits current inventory needs. Confirm whether that dealer accepts your configuration and condition.

Direct Truck Buyer

A buyer such as EasyTruckBuyer evaluates your information without requiring you to create a public listing first. An offer remains conditional on evaluation.

For market comparisons, Rechtien International’s Miami-named location advertises commercial truck sales, while AutoVault in North Miami advertises buying and selling fleet vehicles. Their current purchasing policies must be confirmed directly. These businesses are not EasyTruckBuyer facilities or endorsements.

Questions Miami Truck Sellers Often Need Answered

My truck is inside a PortMiami terminal. Can a tow operator simply enter?

No. Access depends on the facility, release authorization, security credentials and applicable operator permits. Identify the terminal and controlling contact first. A sale inquiry does not authorize or guarantee entry.

What if my truck is at a repair shop with unpaid charges?

Tell EasyTruckBuyer which shop has the vehicle, who controls release, and whether any charges or legal interests remain unresolved. Those matters may need to be addressed before a truck can be collected.

Can I sell a day cab but keep the container chassis it was used with?

Only equipment you own and intend to transfer should be described as included. State whether the tractor, trailer, chassis or attached equipment is separate, leased or owned by another company.

Does a Miami ZIP code mean City of Miami parking rules apply?

Not necessarily. ZIP codes and mailing addresses can cross municipal boundaries. Check the vehicle’s actual jurisdiction, the property type and current parking rules before moving or storing it for sale.

Can I submit a truck that will not start or has locked brakes?

Yes, for evaluation. Explain whether the truck rolls, steers and can be moved safely. Do not try unsafe brake or recovery work yourself. The condition and site access affect purchase and collection feasibility.

Do I need to print my Florida electronic title before contacting you?

No paper title is needed merely to describe the vehicle in an inquiry. The transfer process depends on the final transaction. FLHSMV distinguishes ordinary private-party transfers from eligible dealership transactions.

Can my business submit several vehicles kept at different yards?

Yes. Provide a separate record for each VIN and location, with the legal owner, lien and condition details. Evaluation of one truck does not imply an offer for every unit.

Is collection included if EasyTruckBuyer buys the truck?

Free towing is included with accepted truck purchases, but the actual access, recovery method, route and timing must be arranged for the specific truck. No collection date is promised.
