MISSISSIPPI TRUCK BUYING

Sell Your Truck in Mississippi

If you have a commercial truck, semi, box truck, dump truck, vocational truck, or other work truck in Mississippi that you are considering selling, start by telling EasyTruckBuyer what you have.

Provide the year, make, model, mileage, location, condition, title status, and any known mechanical problems. VIN information, photos, and details about specialized equipment can also help us evaluate the truck.

Every truck is evaluated before an offer decision is made. Submitting a truck does not guarantee an offer or purchase.

Describe the condition of the truck.

START WITH THE DETAILS

What to Prepare Before You Submit a Mississippi Truck

A useful evaluation starts with specific information rather than a general description such as “good condition” or “needs work.” Have as much of the following available as possible.

Year, make, model, and VIN

Mileage and operating hours when relevant

Engine and transmission information

Body or vocational configuration

Whether the truck starts and runs

Known engine, transmission, emissions, hydraulic, electrical, or structural problems

Title status and any title brand

Existing loan or lien information

Current Mississippi location

Photos of the truck and important equipment

For a vocational truck, describe the equipment that is actually installed. A dump body, liftgate, reefer unit, crane, service body, PTO, hydraulic system, bucket, utility equipment, or other attachment can affect the evaluation.

Trucks and Conditions We Consider

EasyTruckBuyer evaluates many commercial and work-truck configurations. The truck does not have to be in active service, and condition is considered as part of the individual evaluation.

Highway and Delivery Trucks

Semi tractors, day cabs, box trucks, and delivery trucks can be submitted. Useful details include mileage, drivetrain specifications, body condition, liftgate condition where applicable, and whether the truck is currently roadworthy.

Vocational and Work Trucks

Dump trucks, utility trucks, service trucks, roll-offs, and other vocational configurations can also be evaluated. Describe the body, PTO, hydraulics, attached equipment, axle configuration, and any equipment that does not operate correctly.

Damaged or Non-Running Trucks

You can submit a truck that is non-running, mechanically damaged, accident damaged, older, high mileage, or cosmetically worn. Explain the actual condition and whether it rolls, steers, and brakes.

Business and Fleet Vehicles

Individuals, owner-operators, businesses, and fleets can inquire. For multiple trucks, separate unit information helps us review the VIN, specifications, location, condition, title status, and lien status of each vehicle.

How the EasyTruckBuyer Process Works

Truck details are reviewed before any offer decision. Additional information or an inspection may be needed depending on the vehicle.

01

Submit the Truck Information

Tell us about the truck, its Mississippi location, condition, mileage, ownership status, and configuration. Include known problems at the beginning.

02

We Evaluate the Truck

We may request photos, VIN information, equipment details, maintenance information, lien information, or clarification about the truck. Some vehicles may require further review or inspection.

03

An Offer May Be Made

If the truck fits our buying criteria and the information supports moving forward, EasyTruckBuyer may make an offer. An inquiry does not guarantee an offer or purchase.

04

Documentation Is Completed

If an offer is accepted, the applicable ownership and transaction documents are completed. Requirements can differ for personally owned, company-owned, financed, or branded-title trucks.

05

Payment and Collection Are Coordinated

Once the agreed transaction requirements are satisfied, payment and collection are coordinated for the individual purchase. Free towing is included with accepted truck purchases. No universal payment deadline or pickup date is promised.

MISSISSIPPI TITLE GUIDANCE

Mississippi Title Steps to Understand Before Selling

Complete the Mississippi Title Assignment Correctly

The Mississippi Department of Revenue states that the title must be assigned to the new owner. The seller completes the applicable seller portions of the title assignment, while the buyer completes the buyer’s printed name and signature.

Mississippi also warns owners not to deliver an incomplete or improperly assigned title and not to leave the buyer’s name blank for someone to add later. A seller should complete the transaction with the identified buyer rather than signing and releasing an unfinished ownership assignment.

Remove and Surrender the Mississippi Plate

Mississippi DOR instructs the previous owner to remove the license plate after the title is assigned and the vehicle is handed to the new owner.

DOR also tells a seller who has sold a vehicle to surrender the plate to the county Tax Collector’s office. Once it is surrendered, DOR says the seller’s ownership record is no longer current with the state. DOR recommends keeping a copy of the front and back of the completed title.

What If the Mississippi Title Is Missing?

Tell EasyTruckBuyer about a missing title when you submit the truck. Mississippi DOR states that if a title is missing, lost, mutilated, destroyed, or ruined, a duplicate or replacement title is required before the sale can proceed.

The standard replacement process uses Application for Replacement Certificate of Title Form 78-006. DOR currently lists a $9 fee. Mississippi also offers a Fast Track replacement procedure using Form 78-026, with a currently listed total cost of $39.

These are Mississippi government procedures and fees, not EasyTruckBuyer fees or transaction timelines.

Mississippi Seller Checklist

For a typical Mississippi-titled truck sale, keep these state procedures separate from EasyTruckBuyer’s own transaction paperwork.

Complete the title assignment correctly.

Do not leave the buyer’s name blank for later completion.

Keep copies of the completed title.

Remove the Mississippi license plate after transfer.

Follow DOR guidance for surrendering the plate to the county Tax Collector.

Resolve a missing title before completing a sale.

Selling a Truck That Still Has a Lien

A financed truck should be identified as such when you submit it. Provide the lienholder information and current payoff information when requested. A lien generally needs to be resolved as part of transferring clear ownership.

Mississippi operates an electronic lien program. DOR states that lienholders with a Federal Employer Identification Number are required to electronically release a satisfied lien within 14 days after satisfaction.

The 14-day requirement applies to the qualifying lienholder. It is not a promise that EasyTruckBuyer will make payment, complete a purchase, or collect a truck within 14 days.

Mississippi Salvage and Branded Titles

A title brand should be disclosed accurately during the evaluation. Mississippi recognizes title conditions including salvage, rebuilt, flood damaged, and hail damaged.

A Mississippi salvage title carries important restrictions. DOR states that a vehicle with a Mississippi salvage title cannot be operated on Mississippi roads or issued a license tag. A vehicle rebuilt from salvage follows a separate inspection and retitling process before receiving a rebuilt title.

Do not describe a truck simply as “damaged” if its title has an official brand. Tell us the actual title status. A branded title does not automatically mean EasyTruckBuyer will or will not purchase the truck. It becomes part of the individual evaluation.

Selling a Mississippi IRP or Fleet Truck

A truck used in interstate commerce can involve administrative records beyond the certificate of title.

Mississippi participates in the International Registration Plan, or IRP. DOR states that qualifying commercial vehicles can be registered under IRP through the state’s Taxpayer Access Point and that vehicles can be added to or removed from existing IRP accounts.

Transferring ownership of the truck and removing it from an IRP fleet are not the same administrative action.

If the truck is part of a Mississippi-based apportioned fleet, review your IRP account after the vehicle is sold.

Mississippi also administers the International Fuel Tax Agreement, or IFTA, for qualifying interstate carriers. Selling one truck does not automatically close a carrier’s IFTA account or eliminate reporting obligations relating to earlier operations.

Company-Owned Trucks Need Clear Seller Authority

A truck titled personally is different from a truck owned by a corporation, LLC, partnership, or other business.

Before a business-owned truck is sold, confirm the exact name shown as owner on the title, who has authority to approve the sale, whether a lien exists, and whether additional authorization or power-of-attorney documentation is appropriate.

Mississippi DOR maintains motor-vehicle power-of-attorney forms, but a power of attorney is not automatically required in every company sale.

For fleet submissions, a unit list can help the evaluation. Include the VIN, year, make, model, mileage, location, condition, title status, and known lien information for each truck.

Prepare the Truck for Collection

The following are practical transportation considerations rather than Mississippi title requirements. If an EasyTruckBuyer purchase is accepted, describe the truck’s mobility and location accurately before collection is arranged.

Does It Start and Run?

Tell us if the truck starts normally, requires a jump, overheats, cannot build or maintain air pressure, has transmission trouble, or starts but cannot be driven safely.

Does It Roll, Steer, and Brake?

For a non-running truck, disclose locked brakes, seized wheels, missing tires, damaged steering, missing axles, components touching the ground, or other problems that affect movement.

Are Keys and Access Available?

Let us know whether keys are available and whether the truck is inside a fenced yard, behind equipment, inside a building, on soft ground, at a repair facility, or at a location with restricted access.

Does the Truck Have an Unusual Transport Configuration?

Oversize, overweight, or unusually configured equipment can require different transportation planning. The truck’s dimensions, weight, attached equipment, load, and transport method can matter.

Compare Your Truck-Selling Options

There is no single selling method that is right for every Mississippi truck owner. Compare the work involved, the type of buyer you need, and the actual terms available to you.

Sell Privately

A private listing lets you market directly to potential buyers. You typically handle advertising, inquiries, photos, inspections, negotiation, payment arrangements, and the ownership transfer yourself.

This can make sense when you want to market the truck directly and are comfortable managing the process.

Trade the Truck to a Dealer

A dealer trade-in can make sense when you are purchasing another truck from the same dealer. It may be less relevant when you are reducing a fleet, disposing of surplus equipment, closing a business, or selling without replacing the truck.

Submit the Truck to EasyTruckBuyer

A direct-buyer inquiry is another option when you want the truck evaluated without first locating an individual retail buyer. It can be relevant for an unused truck, a fleet reduction, a damaged or non-running unit, or a sale without a replacement purchase.

The truck is still evaluated individually. Submission does not guarantee an offer, purchase, price, payment deadline, or collection date.

Mississippi Truck Seller Questions

Can I sell a Mississippi truck if the title is missing?

You can submit the truck information to EasyTruckBuyer, but Mississippi DOR says a duplicate or replacement title is required before a sale can proceed when the title is missing, lost, mutilated, destroyed, or ruined. Disclose the title problem at the beginning.

What should I do with the Mississippi license plate after selling?

Mississippi DOR instructs the seller to remove the plate when ownership is transferred and surrender the plate to the county Tax Collector. DOR also recommends retaining copies of the front and back of the signed title.

Can I submit a truck with an outstanding loan?

Yes. Disclose the lien during the inquiry and provide lienholder and payoff information when requested. A financed truck must be evaluated along with the process needed to satisfy or release the lien and transfer ownership properly.

Can EasyTruckBuyer consider a non-running truck?

Yes. Non-running trucks can be submitted for evaluation. Tell us whether the truck rolls, steers, brakes, has keys, and is accessible to appropriate transport equipment. Submission does not guarantee purchase.

What if my truck is registered under IRP?

You can submit an IRP-registered truck. If the truck is sold, remember that the title transfer and removal of the vehicle from your Mississippi IRP account are separate administrative matters.
